Larking about at Ferrybridge

The forecast was promising, but soon reverted to dull at Ferrybridge yesterday. Hence, small birds became a bit of a challenge. A small flock of Skylarks sparked interest in me, because i've not got any decent shots of them,,, still haven't,,,, LOL.

No close action from anything in the harbour. Black Guilly still keeping its distance .

All quiet on the Western Path.

Well, all quiet for the whole circuit at Loddy today. Still far too much water for waders i would have thought. So, all in all, not a lot of interest.

This pair of Gadwall were snapped the day before. Male below.

The Upton Curlews

Had a spare hour today, so i thought i'd check out the Curlews at Upton Country Park. The weather was pretty much perfect, which helped the long distance photography. First shots i've taken of these stately birds.

What a Dive

Spent a few hours today sloping around Portland Harbour. Great light for the most part, and struck a bit lucky getting a Great Northern Diver quite close to shore.

Getting close to the Oystercatchers was a bit trickier.

All quiet on the Weymouth front.

A nice fine day yesterday, so decided on some walking excercise to go with my New Years Resolutions. Did the full circuit of Loddy, which i've not done for a while. With just my 'walkabout' camera gear slung around my neck, i was quite hopeful. It was extremely quiet bird-wise with everything staying out of range for even the longest lenses. These magpies were a mild point of interest, with a group of around twenty kicking off in the hedge by the western path.

Later, i had a look in at Radipole lake, which was almost as quiet. I had hoped to see some Bearded tits, but not to be. The Ibis on the football field was absent too.

Blashford

Trundled up to Blashford Lakes today,,,, a bit disappointed by the absence of Lesser Redpoll, and Brambling. Might try again at the end of the month. The weather is not hard enough to bring these into our feeders yet. Apart from a few light frosts the winter hasn't really happened so far, being replaced by rainy squalls, downpours, and gales. I did get a few shots of Siskin tho'. All the others present appear in my garden every day.
